scribe post march 24 2009

Number of the day is homework everyday. But we didn't have time to do it because we had a quiz. Before we did the quiz we wrote down these notes.

How do we make an angle bisector?

1. Free hand , not perfect and not accurate enough.

2. Protractor

3. Compass

a) arc from vertex

b) arc from pt. s (intersection of line and arc)

c) arc from pt. t (intersection of line and arc)

d) line from arc intersection to vertex that is you angle bisector

After the notes we started on the test. There was two pages, four sides and 40 questions.

Here are some of the questions.

True/false

T-1. The height of a parallelogram is always perpendicular to its base.

F-2. The area of a parallelogram is calculated using its length and width.

F-3. The formula of a triangle is A= b x h.

T-4. Lines in the same plane that do not intersect are called parallel lines.

T-5. Angle bisectors can be constructed by using a compass and a ruler.

Multiple choice

C- 15. A perpendicular line segment is a line segment that

a. divides an angle into two equal parts

b. divides another line segment in half

c. divides another line segment in half and forms an angle of 90 degrees

d. forms an angle of 90 degrees with another line segment

Completion

26. Lines that intersect at right angles are called perpendicular lines.

27. The height of a parallelogram is always at a right angle to its base.

28.The formula for the area of a triangle is A= b x h/2

29. You can find the area of a parallelogram if you know its base and height.

Matching

a. area of a parallelogram e. obtuse angle

a- 35. A= b x h

c- 36. A= b x h/ 2

h- 37. a point on a figure where two sides meet

Short answer

38. What are two methods for drawing an angle bisector?

- Protractor and ruler or compass

Problem

40. George is painting a triangular mural to cover one of his attic walls. How much area will George have to paint?

scribe post for march.23 , 2009

Heeey . sorry its kinda late .

number of the day today -8756.934 Homework Everday.

Bisect - Bi meants " cut "
Sect means "two"
so Bisect means to cut in two .

perpendicular- a line that divides a line segment in half and is at right angles to it .

This is how you can create or draw a Perpendicular Bisector

1. Free hand O.K but not perfect.
2.Protractor gets us 90 degree angle .
Ruler cuts line in half
Cooler way to do it .
3. Use a compass and create arcs. Open compass and create arcs to greater than half the distance of a line.

B) Place compass on pt. A draw an arc,
C) Place compass on pt. B draw and arc,
D) Use a ruler to connect the intersections of the arcs that line is a perpendicular bisector.

Angles
acute angle- angle that is less than 90 degrees
abtuse angle- angle that is greater than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees.

Angle Bisector- the line that divides an angle into two equal parts.

this is an example of an angle bisector .

so , basically all we did today was notes , we just copied down the notes today .
theres no homework , except for number of the day , and STUDY STUDY STUDY , for the test tommorow.

I hope you liked my scribe post, next i pick kisha . good luck .

MARCH 18TH 2009 !

Hi People ! :D

In math class today,we did number of the day.The number was 2936.324. Then we wrote notes. We learned "Area of Triangle". Here are the notes.

Rectangle Area A=BxH
A-8x5
A=4 cm2

Triangle Area

A=BxH /2
A=8x5/2
A=40/2
A=20 cm

He also gave us questions to do.Here`s some of them

A=36 m2. Find the height.

Find the base.

Thanks for looking. :D

I pick Elissa for the next blog. BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRUCE !

March 11 , 2009 .

heello !

Well
today we didn't really do anything but TLE .
Oh and , for the people who haven't done TLE yet , the subject we had to do is
Rates and Ratio's .

Since I forgot
to do yesterday's blog , I'm going to talk about yesterday's math . Yesterday , the number of the day was 7835.621 .

Mr.Isfeld told us to work on our text book work , page 198 questions 2 - 14 .
We had to do these
Probability tree's and tables .

For example , if you were to flip a coin and roll a die , what are the possible outcomes
that the coin will land on
heads and the die to roll a 4 ?
First , you would have to make a Tree Diagram for the die .

It might look like this :

A probability tree diagram shows all the possible events.
The first event is represented by a dot.
From the dot, branches are drawn to represent all possible outcomes of the event.
The probability of each outcome is written on its branch
.

Then , for the coin , you need to draw a Table Diagram .
Which would look something like :

Sample space:
{ H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6,
T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6 }

The probability of each of these outcomes is 1/2 • 1/6 = 1/12

And to end this off , I am going to ask a probability question ,
and you must answer it in the comments box .

An ice chest contains 9 cans of apple juice , 8 cans of grape juice , 7 cans of orange juice , and 5 cans of pineapple juice . If you reach into the container and randomly select 3 cans from the chest , what's the probability of selecting no grape juice ?

For the next post , I choose .. DARNELL .

heey,

Today in math class we did Number of the Day and its homework everyday. The number was 7362.415.

We also learned key words about probability. These are the key words we learnt:
independent event the outcome of one event has no effect on the outcome of another event

sample space is all possible outcomes of an experiment

tree diagram a diagram used to organize outcomes. contains a branch for each possible outcome of an event.

And we also learnt how to make a tree diagram and a probability chart.
